Sarah Andersen

I came to fashion design by way of a runway I didn't expect: four years in the Air Force taught me discipline, precision, and the quiet satisfaction of finishing something exactly right, and when I traded a uniform for a sketchbook, I found those same instincts waiting for me in the studio. I'm a BFA Fashion Design student at Belmont University's O'More College of Architecture and Design, graduating in the spring of 2027, and my work lives at the intersection of romantic silhouette and exacting craft: the drama of Dior, the sculptural discipline of McQueen, the storytelling instinct of Schiaparelli, all filtered through hours spent hand-finishing a hem or draping a bodice until it holds its shape without a single visible stitch.

What I'm building toward is a career in couture and special occasion wear, the kind of clothing that marks a threshold in someone's life, and I want every piece I make to carry the evidence of the hand that made it. That means favoring in-house construction over shortcuts, treating fabric manipulation as its own form of storytelling, and designing with the same intentionality I learned to bring to every task in the service. Nashville is home base for now, and this site is where I'll be sharing the collections, technical work, and behind-the-scenes thinking that get me closer to the studios I hope to join.
